I began my mission to help others 20 years ago when I decided to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. It was in this pursuit that I discovered my passion for human sexuality. It was then that I knew that I wanted to help others who struggle with their sexuality. Those who do not understand or have misguided beliefs about what sexuality is and what our bodies have to do with it. Since then, my journey has taken me away from my dream and back again many times. Through the years I have worked with many victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence. This work allowed me to see the disconnect and loss that many feel after their body has been abused and disrespected. I saw the struggle that many women faced when attempting to let not only others, but themselves in, and as a survivor myself I knew I had to step up and use my experience to help others. After completing my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, I decided it was time. On one hand, we want them to just stay away from it completely until we believe they are ready. On the other hand, we know we cannot shield them from the world. Fue durante esta jornada que descubrí mi interés por la sexualidad humana. Fue entonces que supe que quería ayudar a aquellos que luchan con su sexualidad. Aquellos que no entienden o están confundidos sobre que es la sexualidad, y lo que nuestro cuerpo tiene que ver con ella. Desde entonces, el trayecto de la vida me ha acercado y alejado de mi sueño varias veces. Pero también me permitió aprender mucho a través de mis varios empleos. Entre estos empleos tuve la oportunidad de trabajar con víctimas de abuso sexual y violencia doméstica. Esto me permitió ver la desconexión y pérdida que muchos sienten después de que su cuerpo ha sido abusado e irrespetado. Vi la lucha que muchas mujeres enfrentan al intentar abrirse no solo a otros, sino también a sí mismas. Esto fortaleció mi pasión por ayudar a personas como ellas. Después de terminar mi maestría en Psicología, decidí que era hora.
